Surreal Artists You Should Know Pt. III

Hello again fellow art nerds! You can thank my friend Wihan for reminding me to write this blog entry in a timely manner. I intend to have a new installment of this section at the beginning of every month. For April, I’m going to focus on a darker aesthetic, just in case you all were getting a little too bright and cheery this spring!

The first artist I’d like to introduce is the versatile and imaginative Mike May. Though one can easily see in his gallery that May is proficient in many art styles and subjects, I myself have really fallen in love with his darker, more conceptual work. The sketchy lines and texture of his drawings greatly enhance the raw sense of disturbance and terror I feel when I look at his creations. He simply gives you the monstrous in its true, unmerciful form. http://www.mikespencil.com/

Next in this dark and dreary lineup is the frustratingly elusive Anton Semenov. I can’t seem to track down anything on this mysterious artist without a great deal of difficulty. If you happen to know anything about him or his work, please let me know! Since I am so dreadfully in the dark when it comes to knowing anything about him, all I can leave you with are a few examples of his work I’ve managed to stumble upon.

I can’t explain how excited I was when I found this next artist. His talent is just mind blowing! With how creative and skilled he is in his work, it is no wonder that Jerad Marantz’s concepts can be found in many projects in the film and gaming industries (Ex: Movie “I Am Legend”). If you’re looking for spine-chilling creatures that look like they escaped from another horiffic dimension, Marantz is your man. http://jeradsmarantz.blogspot.com/

Last, but most certainly not least, are the works of Kris Kuksi. Wonderfully ornate and intricate, Kuksi’s talent really shines in his sculpture art. One could easily get lost in time exploring every detail of every inch of these impossibly elaborate pieces. This incredible sculpting ability, however, does not detract from Kuksi’s skill in two dimensional mediums. Kuksi easily brings his taste for the delicate and detailed into his drawings and paintings. http://kuksi.com/

On a side note, I would like to mention that the first three of these artists I found while lurking www.creaturespot.com . I highly recommend checking it out if you want to see the outlandish work of those artists that work in the film and video game industries. You may recognize some of their art.

Well that’s it for April! I hope you enjoyed the artwork, and please, don’t hesitate to let me know of any artist suggestions you may have for me.
